Methanex set out to design and build their third Geismar plant (G3). This project with a budget of $1.3 billion needed a fabrication group that would do whatever it takes to get this complex piping support system done correctly, and on time. They chose to partner with Delta Machine and Ironworks because of our commitment to providing professional service all the way until the job is complete.

Project Overview

With the deadline set at just a year, we knew we would have to optimize all of our systems and keep the job moving as efficiently as possible. We were able to streamline everything in a way that allowed us not to sacrifice any other jobs that came our way during the time-period. Upon receiving ISO’s, our team of planners and highly skilled fabricators got to work to design, build, and provide quality pieces, ahead of schedule, and to customer specifications. Once built, our quality control team checked every support, wrapped them, and shipped them to where they would be attached to their pipe spools.

Your team’s dedication and excellence have been instrumental in the success of our capital project {G3) and the smooth operation of our plants in Geismar, Louisiana.

Throughout this period, Delta has consistently delivered critical materials on over 20 purchase orders, many of which required custom fabrication using challenging-to-source alloy materials. Your ability to respond swiftly to our requests, often initiated outside normal business hours-including evenings, weekends, and holidays-has been truly remarkable.

 

A notable instance of your exceptional service occurred this past late September when we needed a large quantity of custom u-bolts, channel braces, and structural supports to repair a critical asset.

Despite the complexity and urgency of our request, Delta managed to procure and expedite the necessary specialty alloy plate and deployed a team to fabricate these components around the clock for several days. The “all hands-on deck” approach exhibited by your team, with every member participating hands-on regardless of their level of leadership, is a testament to the culture and commitment at Delta Machine & Ironworks.

Moreover, we are particularly grateful for the concerted effort made by the Delta team to provide detailed updates throughout the process. This transparency allowed us to improve coordination and efficiently orchestrate field activities on our end. Your willingness to allow our leadership to visit the shop further demonstrated the dedication of every Delta team member to optimizing the timeline and prioritizing tasks to ensure maximum benefit to Methanex.
